Wiwynn Science-Based Target Approved by SBTi, in Line with International Carbon Reduction Path

Wiwynn takes “Unleash the Power of Digitalization; Ignite the Innovation of Sustainability” as the corporate vision and actively realizes ESG activities in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Wiwynn continues developing sustainable products with tier one cloud service providers while setting carbon reduction and renewable energy adoption target. Today, Wiwynn is announcing to receive certification from Science Based Target initiatives (SBTi) for its science-based target.

SBTi is an international organization which sets a science-based standard framework for carbon emissions reduction paths. Enterprises can use this SBTi framework to ensure compliance with the scientific concept of climate and environment.

Wiwynn sets the carbon reduction target based on SBTi’s criteria and frameworks, and in responding to the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to well below 2 ℃. The Company commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 25% by 2031 from a 2021 base year, and to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 12.3% within the same timeframe. The target was submitted to SBTi in May 2022, paving the way for net zero carbon reduction and moving towards a sustainable low-carbon social environment.

For scope 1 and 2, Wiwynn has kicked-off renewable energy procurement from 2020 and completed renewable energy adoption in Taipei Headquarters in December 2022. In addition, Wiwynn actively worked with the office landlord to introduce renewable energy into Wiwynn's office area where using "shared customer number" to increase Wiwynn’s renewable energy percentage of adoption.

For scope 3, Wiwynn continues to collaborate with customers for sustainable low-carbon products while working with the supply chain partners for carbon reduction actions, such as carbon disclosure. Wiwynn also started the Ocean Hugs project in 2021 for coastal forest planting and is looking for sustainable opportunities for Scope 3 reduction.
