Taipei, July 5, 2023 – Wiwynn (TWSE: 6669), an innovative cloud IT infrastructure provider for data centers, is pleased to announce its collaboration with Senai Airport City Pte Ltd, the master developer of Senai Airport City in Malaysia to promote green industrial parks focused on natural carbon reduction and environmental sustainability.
With the vision of "Unleash the Power of Digitalization, Igniting Sustainable Innovation," Wiwynn is committed to developing data center business while actively engaging in sustainable environmental and social development.
To address the rising demand for data centers in Southeast Asia, Wiwynn is constructing state-of-the-art server rack system integration and server motherboard production lines at the Senai Airport City Free Industrial Zone, located in Johor, Malaysia. In pursuit of its commitment to sustainable development and environmental harmony, Wiwynn's Malaysia plant incorporates smart manufacturing technologies and follow the highest Gold standard of the Green Building Index (GBI).
In a significant milestone, Wiwynn and Senai Airport City Pte Ltd, have signed a Collaboration Agreement to plant trees in scale within the industrial park, demonstrating their commitment to promoting green industrial parks through tangible actions.
Emily Hong, Chair and Chief Strategy Officer of Wiwynn, stated, "As a frontrunner in the cloud data center industry, we actively collaborate with ecosystem partners to reduce carbon emissions through technology innovation, low-carbon manufacturing, and tree planting initiatives. Malaysia serves as Wiwynn’s production hub and a base for our low-carbon manufacturing and tree planting plans. This collaboration not only furthers our commitment to sustainable development in Malaysia but also establishes a solid foundation for Wiwynn's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040."
In response to the collaboration, Senai Airport City Pte Ltd’s Chairperson Tan Sri Che Khalib expressed, " Senai Airport City is committed to promote a sustainable development in line with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. We are glad to have Wiwynn's participation in creating a green park, enabling natural carbon reduction and fostering environmental harmony in Senai Airport City."
Tan Sri Che Khalib also stated, “Being the master developer of 11 million SQM development of Senai Airport City with total estimated GDV of USD1.07 billion, Senai Airport City is one of the preferred choice of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Malaysia attributable to its ready platform, infrastructure and strategic location accessibility to international seaports and airports to serve the Asia Pacific region (APAC). To date, Senai Airport City has invested over USD130 million for its Free Industrial Zone development to accommodate the growing demand of export-oriented Multi-National Companies (MNCs)”.
By the end of June 2023, Wiwynn has planted over 24,000 trees in Taiwan. Starting from 2021, Wiwynn has proactively planted over 6,000 tree seedlings in Yilan and Tainan. In 2023, the Company will further expand the scale of tree planting, with 5,000, 3,000 and 10,000 tree seedlings being planted at Wuling Farm, Taijiang National Park and Hengchun, Pingtung County respectively. In the future, Wiwynn will continue to carry out tree planting activities in Taiwan and Malaysia, utilizing natural carbon sinks to offset carbon emissions, while providing habitats and protection for various organisms, contributing practical efforts to combat global warming, protect coastlines, and conserve biodiversity.
