Wiwynn, a leading AI server manufacturer, will title sponsor the Taiwanese historical musical Tropical Angel, taking concrete action to support artistic creation and encourage the expression of the younger generation. This musical, a joint creation by veteran actor Yong Lea (楊烈) alongside a new generation of actors and a creative team including Crystal Lin (林雨宣) and Howl Yu (于浩威), to be staged at the National Theater in Taipei from March 21 to 23, 2025.
Tropical Angel is adapted from the short story collection Hunting captive women : memories of a Taiwan special volunteer force by literary master Chen QianWu (陳千武). Set in the 1940s, the story delicately portrays the contradictions and dilemmas faced by Taiwanese individuals serving as Japanese soldiers. The production's young creators, from the script and music to the stage design, have interpreted this historical period from a fresh perspective, aiming to spark deep reflection among the audience on the era's context and to showcase a unique artistic style.
Emily Hong, Chair and Chief Strategy Officer of Wiwynn, stated: "In the AI era, the passion and power of innovation are the most irreplaceable things! When we first encountered Tropical Angel, we were deeply moved by the talent and vitality of these young people. They skillfully connect art and history, telling the stories of a great era through music and drama."
Emily Hong further noted: "Wiwynn hopes to take concrete actions to support the sustainable development of arts and culture, encouraging more young creators to break boundaries, create boldly, and share their stories and passion." This philosophy also echoes Wiwynn Technology's vision of "Unleashing digital energy, igniting sustainable innovation."
As one of the key members of Taiwan's technology industry, Wiwynn hopes its action will serve as an inspiration, inviting more corporations to join in supporting the development of Taiwan's culture and arts, allowing the nation's cultural depth and creative energy to shine on the world stage.
